“Police Academy” Star Michael Winslow Headlines at Bonkerz Comedy Club

Bonkerz Comedy Club inside Palace Station is pleased to bring famed comedian Michael Winslow to its stage Thursday, April 30 through Saturday, May 2. He is a master of vocal gymnastics and can imitate more than 1,000 sound effects using his voice alone.

Winslow got his start after auditioning for and winning the Chuck Barris “Gong Show.” He took his winnings, bought a car and moved to Los Angeles where he began performing in comedy clubs and shows. While performing in “Evening at the Improv,” he was discovered by Director Hugh Wilson and Producer Paul Manslanski who asked him to join the cast of “Police Academy.” In this series of films, Winslow plays jokester police recruit Larvelle Jones, scaring off criminals with crazy sounds and imitations.

“I have known Michael for many years and I’m very excited to bring him to Las Vegas! He’s an outstanding performer who amazes audiences every time I have him in one of my clubs,” said Bonkerz Comedy Club Founder Joe Sanfelippo.

Whether he is recreating the frenzy of Jimi Hendrix playing the guitar or the roar of a jet plane, Winslow’s versatility is truly extraordinary. In addition to the “Police Academy” films, he has appeared in Mel Brooks’ “Spaceballs,” “Coming Attractions” and was heard as the voice of Stripe in the hit movie “Gremlins.” He is also a talented writer and producer, having worked on such projects as “RoboDoc” “Lenny the Wonder Dog” and his own “Michael Winslow: Comedy Sound Slapdown.” Recently he appeared in a Geico commercial, has provided his voice for characters on television shows such as “Family Guy” and “Robo Chicken” and is currently working on a new project with Bill Cosby.
