UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation Hosts 3rd Annual Teddy Bear 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk
The UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) is hosting its 3rd Annual Teddy Bear 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk to support families in need of financial assistance to help pay for their children’s medical expenses.

The Teddy Bear Run is set for Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Boulevard, with day-of registration starting at 6:30 a.m., and the race beginning at 8 a.m. Participants can register individually, or in teams of five or more. Individual registration for the 5K run is $25 before Aug. 25, and $30 after. Individual registration for the 1 mile walk is $20 before Aug. 25, and $25 after. Kids ages six to 12 can register for either the 5K run or the 1 mile walk for $10 before Aug. 25, and $15 after.

Online registration will close on Sept. 26, and limited day-of registration will be available for $40 for all events and ages. The first 150 people who register for the event will receive a technical T-shirt, and the rest will receive cotton T-shirts. All finishers will receive a Teddy Bear Run patch as their finisher’s medal, and will receive “swag bags” with race goodies.

Team registration is also available for both the 5K and 1 mile events. Teams of five or more are eligible for a discount, which is available by emailing in advance for a discount code to be entered at the time of registration.

UHCCF offers grants of up to $5,000 to help pay for medical services and equipment such as physical, occupational and speech therapy, counseling services, surgeries, prescriptions, wheelchairs, orthotics, eyeglasses and hearing aids. UnitedHealthcare of Nevada employees will be participating in the walk/run, and the public is encouraged to participate.

The 5K and 1 mile courses will weave through Tivoli Village and the surrounding community. In the final approach to the finish line, participants will run or walk through a new entrance to the village located at Rampart Boulevard and Alta Drive, and under a pedestrian bridge where observers will be gathered to cheer for finishers.
