2009 NHL Awards at Palms Casino Resort

Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is cover athlete and spokesman for the next iteration of the popular NHL 2K franchise, NHL 2K10.
On Thursday the Palms Casino Resort hosted the 2009 NHL Awards inside the Pearl Concert Theater. Kevin Connolly, Jerry Bruckheimer, Michael Buble’ & William Fichtner all attended the show and Robin Thicke & Chaka Khan performed. 

Alex Ovechkin (pictured above – Photo credit: Denise Truscello) of the Washington Capitals, the 2009 Maurice “Rocket” Richard Award winner and Hart Memorial Trophy candidate, will be featured as the cover athlete and spokesman for the next iteration of the popular NHL 2K franchise, NHL 2K10. While leading the National Hockey League (NHL) in goals scored for the second consecutive season, Ovechkin has become one of the most recognizable faces of the NHL in only his fourth season, and will bring his electrifying personality and unmatched passion for the game to NHL 2K10 this year.

Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla received the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award.  The Stanley Cup was brought on stage by Pittsburgh’s Conn Smythe winner Evgeni Malkin, Game 7 hero Max Talbot and coach Dan Bylsma.  Evgeni Malkin received the Art Ross Trophy as the League’s top regular-season scorer.  A complete list of awards is available at www.NHL.com.
