Stratosphere to Host First Annual “Cocktail Server Blackjack Tournament”

The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower will host the first annual “Cocktail Server Blackjack Tournament” on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 7 p.m. The free tournament will feature 48 teams of three who will be competing for the grand prize of a trip to Hawaii along with a chance to win $100,000 in cash. There will also be a “Creative Costume Contest” and drink specials throughout the casino, announced American Casino & Entertainment Properties officials.

“We created the ‘Cocktail Server Blackjack Tournament’ as a way of showing our appreciation for cocktail servers and the service they perform. The tournament is free and will offer great prizes as well as a fun atmosphere for team supporters and spectators,” said Rory Hascall, vice president of table games and ancillary gaming for the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower. “I guarantee that there will not be a more rockin’ casino on November 12,” he added.

The tournament is free and is open to 48 three-person teams. Each team must consist of three (3) members. The tournament will take place in the blackjack pit in front of the Stratosphere’s casino cage. Each participant is guaranteed one free round of blackjack. The top 10 teams and two (2) wild card teams will play in the finals. The top six teams will win prizes. The first place winning team of the tournament will have a chance to win $100,000 by playing a blackjack-themed promotional game. There will also be a “Creative Costume Contest” where one team will win $500 per team member and two other teams will win prizes.

Prize Breakdown: First place is a trip to Hawaii with airfare and 5 day/4 night hotel accommodations and a chance to win $100,000 in cash for each team member; second place is $250 for each team member; third place is $200 for each team member; fourth place is $150 for team member; fifth place is $100 for each team member and sixth place is $50 for each team member.

Early Registration: Early registration can be done by phone starting Monday, October 27 through Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Call lines will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each team that registers early will receive an extra $1,000 in tournament chips during the tournament. Event Schedule- Wednesday, November 12, 2008:

4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Late Registration will be located in front of Polly Esther’s night club just off the casino floor.

7 p.m. Qualifying round begins. The blackjack tournament area will be located in the blackjack pit in front of the Casino Cage. The top 10 scoring teams and two Wild Card teams will advance to the finals.

11 p.m.

Drawing for the two Wild Card teams (time subject to change).

11:15 p.m. Finals Round begins (time subject to change).

Midnight Creative Costume Contest. One team will win $500 per team member and the second and third place teams will receive prizes.

12:15 a.m.

Prize money will be awarded at the end of the Final Round.

Spectators will be welcome and will be encouraged to congregate in the tournament area. There will be drink specials, including $5 “U Call It” martinis, throughout the casino and lounges including C Bar and Images Lounge. There will be live entertainment in Images Lounge.
