Don Rickles to Perform at The Orleans Hotel and Casino March 19-20

February 5, 2011 by

Don RicklesLegendary comedian Don Rickles, who has starred in Las Vegas theaters longer than any other performer in the history of the gaming mecca, has signed for a fourth consecutive year of performances with The Orleans Hotel and Casino

The much-honored comedian will launch his 52nd consecutive year as a Las Vegas headliner when he brings his one-of-a-kind humor to The Orleans Showroom on March 19 and 20, each evening at 8 p.m.

Rickles took his first step toward national fame in 1957 when Frank Sinatra wandered into the small Hollywood nightclub where Rickles was performing. The still-unknown Rickles eyed Sinatra and said, “I just saw your movie, The Pride and the Passion, and I want to tell you, the cannon’s acting was great. And, make yourself at home, Frank. Hit somebody.” Sinatra doubled up laughing and became one of Rickles’ biggest boosters among Hollywood celebrities. Rickles soon became the “in” comic among Hollywood stars, who flocked to his nightclub engagements to become the targets of his insults.

Since then, his unparalleled career has never missed a beat. While making his mark in movies, television, theater and recordings, Rickles has remained a master of nightclub comedy with a continuing love affair with live audiences.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Don back to The Orleans Showroom and honored to have him as part of the Boyd Gaming family for more than 10 years,” said Terry Jenkins, Boyd Gaming Corporate Director of Entertainment. “I can’t think of a better symbol of Las Vegas entertainment than Don.”

Rickles is enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue performing in the 827-seat Showroom, an intimate venue that allows entertainers to connect with their audiences.

“I’m so excited to be back at The Orleans,” said the comedian. “I understand this time they are even going to put my name on the sign…”

Rickles has also starred in several films and television shows, including Casino, Kelly’s Heroes, Rat Race, Gilligan’s Island, The Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, The Unit, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3, the later of which was recently honored with five Oscar Award nominations. Rickles has received two Primetime Emmy Awards, including Best Individual Performance in a Variety or Musical for the 2008 HBO special Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project. In 2009, cable network TV Land honored Rickles with the “Legend Award.” In 2007, Rickles made his mark in the literary world with his memoir Rickles’ Book.

Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are available starting from $74.95, plus tax and convenience fees, and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.365.7075 or visiting www.orleanscasino.com. Save on convenience fees by purchasing the tickets in person at Coast Casinos.
