Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas President Shawn Ritchie presented a $100,000 check to the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) men’s basketball on Saturday, Dec. 20. This year, Foundation renewed its partnership with the UNLV Athletic Department in support of the university’s men’s basketball program for 2009. The funds will go toward providing the student-athlete of each of the 31 home games with scholarship dollars as well as other programs designated by the UNLV Athletic Department. The Foundation will donate $1,000 during every home game to the Runnin’ Rebel student-athlete of the game who best exemplifies the competitive spirit and determination in giving UNLV its best chance for victory.
In addition to the monetary donation, the Foundation’s member chefs from some of the finest restaurants in Las Vegas will once again host UNLV’s end-of-the-year banquet in March for approximately 400 people. The banquet is held for athletes and their families as well as sponsors and the athletic department.
