The weekend can never get here soon enough, and if you’re like most people, you make the most of every one of them. But if you’re like some people and overdo it one evening, how are you supposed to muster up the energy to get out of bed the next day and go to work like you had stayed home all evening? The bottom line is, many people go nuts on the weekend, especially if they’re vacationing in hot tourist spots such as Las Vegas or Atlantic City. These “cities that never sleep” can take a lot out of you, but if you enjoy visiting these tourist spots and soon afterward have to go back to work, here are some tips that will make it much easier on you.
1. Drink LOTS of Water
A lot of people don’t realize that alcohol is very dehydrating, so rehydrating yourself is crucial. What’s the best way to do this? Try drinking lots of water before you go out and lots more water once you return home. If you can sneak in a glass of water (or some bottled water) while you’re out, that’s even better. But if you can’t, make sure you load up on the stuff both before and after your night on the town. You may urinate a lot the following day, but the water should make you feel a lot like your old self again.
2. Commit to Exercising the Next Day
This can be difficult for some people, but if you commit to going to the gym in the morning before heading to work, you’ll feel a lot better once you get there. You’ll also have to take this commitment seriously, which means going ahead and laying out your workout clothes so that you can get to them first thing in the morning. Wake up early and hit the gym so that you can sweat a lot of those toxins out and feel much better before you get to work.
3. Go to Bed as Early as You Can
Naturally, this won’t work if you have to be at work at eight o’clock in the morning and you don’t crawl into your bed until three, but if you can, call it an early night and hit the sack as soon as you get home. Act like you’re a child who needs to get some sleep before going to school the next day. Of course, it will help if you also have a sturdy mattress and participate in a relaxing bedtime ritual before getting into bed, but even if you don’t, at least try to get to bed as soon as you get home from your night on the town.
4. Get Yourself Cleaned up Before Going to Bed
When you’re on the strip in Las Vegas, and you come back to your home, the last thing you feel like doing is cleaning up your bedroom, but the cleaner your room is the following day, the more motivated you’ll be to get up and get going. When you get home, at least put your clothes in the dirty clothes hamper, and if you can, take a shower so that you feel better physically and emotionally the following day.
