The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod will celebrate New Year’s Eve with the leap of a lifetime as the clock strikes midnight on Thursday, Dec. 31. Taking that leap is Ryan Smith, a local Las Vegas resident who won an Instagram contest to make history with an 829-foot leap off of SkyJump Powered by MTN DEW to ring in 2021.
Smith will be the first person in history to jump from the top of the iconic tower in a custom-made suit mirroring the traditional New Year’s Eve mirror ball.
For the first year ever, SkyJump and all STRAT thrill rides will be open to guests to jump into the early morning hours of the New Year, due to the lifted firework restrictions typically enforced on the Las Vegas Strip. The STRAT’s thrill rides include X-Scream, a space-age-like teeter totter; Big Shot, a 45 mile per hour catapult overlooking the Las Vegas Valley; and Insanity, a massive mechanical arm extending 64 feet over the edge of The STRAT.
