THRIVE Cannabis Marketplace announces its partnership with Mirimus, Inc. to be the first cannabis company to offer its employees the SalivaClear COVID surveillance testing platform. THRIVE employs nearly 300 Nevadans in its five dispensaries, cultivation facility and a distribution center. Its employees will be tested on a weekly basis with Mirimus’ SalivaClear testing system.
“The cannabis industry has been deemed essential since the pandemic began and THRIVE is committed to keeping our employees as safe as possible so they can serve our medical patients and adult-use consumers,” said Mitch Britten, founder and chief executive officer, THRIVE.
SalivaClear provides frequent, high-quality, low-cost detection of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. This pioneering COVID-19 pooled saliva testing platform comprises three key elements: self-administered saliva-based sampling, pooled testing and gold-standard PCR molecular diagnostics. When combined, these elements enable frequent, high-quality, low-cost detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Rather than test each individual employee separately, a time- and resource-intensive process, saliva samples are combined, or pooled, to substantially reduce the number of tests needed. Saliva-based sampling is simple, safe and noninvasive; it is just as effective as testing nasal pharyngeal swabs, according to studies conducted by Yale University. Pooled testing entails combining up to 24 individual samples of saliva to create a single specimen for analysis. A diagnostic is then performed on the entire pool. If a positive test occurs, the pool is narrowed to 12 pools of two samples to pinpoint the positive individuals. While typical, individually administered tests cost between $75 and $150 each, the SalivaClear test costs significantly less per individual, making it a much more affordable option.
THRIVE distinguishes itself by its commitment to understanding and facilitating the needs of its customers, while honoring the laws governing cannabis. While providing the widest variety and highest-quality cannabis, THRIVE aims to set a positive example in the cannabis industry by eliminating negative stigmas and inaccurate stereotypes surrounding cannabis consumption. Supporting charities, culture and the local economy are all important to Britten and the entire THRIVE team, who strive to create an upbeat atmosphere based on professionalism, compassion and security.
