Runners, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts now have a great way to help hungry kids in addition to enjoying their fitness regimen or hobby with the “Gone For a Run” virtual race. It’s part of a national five-city virtual race challenge series by Gone For a Run, a family-owned apparel company of innovative technology and products that celebrate and support a running lifestyle.

A portion of all virtual race proceeds are donated to a charitable organization in each participating city. Gone For a Run chose the Serving Our Kids Foundation as the Las Vegas beneficiary. The nonprofit organization feeds and serves the weekend nutrition needs of several thousand local homeless and at-risk children.

“We are delighted to support the Serving Our Kids Foundation through our GoneForaRun.com Virtual Race 5 Cities Program,” said Julie Lynn, founder of GoneForaRun.com. “With the pandemic affecting so many of our cities across the country, we wanted to provide an opportunity for runners to run virtually to keep active and at the same time support a charity specific to that city. For Las Vegas, the Serving Our Kids Foundation provides such needed support to children in the city, and we here at Gone For a Run and our amazing running community are proud to run in support of this organization.”

The public is invited to sign up now through Dec. 31 to contribute to the Las Vegas leg and the Serving Our Kids Foundation. The other participating challenge cities are Boston, Chicago, New York City and San Francisco.

“We’re so appreciative that Gone For a Run recognizes the work we and our great volunteers do at the Serving Our Kids Foundation and the need of so many children in the greater Las Vegas area,” said Dale Darcas, executive director of the Serving Our Kids Foundation. “Gone For a Run has a variety of distance options, making it easy for runners and walkers to pick the one that’s best for them while helping hungry kids and contributing to the Las Vegas showing versus the other cities.”

Race participants can choose any length, including one mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, 50 miles or 100 miles, and can run or walk alone or with friends, and virtually with racers in the other challenge cities. Upon registration, participants will receive an authentic race bib and medal, as well as an official race T-shirt.
