Spring is in the air, and High Style for a Hundred owner Kim Groberg has tips to help thrifty fashionistas create springtime looks that won’t leave their wallets light.
Groberg started High Style for a Hundred, her closet edit and wardrobe workshop fashion consulting business, to help clients “spend a hundred, but look like a million” by knowing where to shop. She said one of those places is the Shop for Success sale benefiting Dress for Success of Southern Nevada, a local affiliate of the international nonprofit that empowers women to achieve economic independence by enabling them to build a career and become self-sufficient.
The Shop for Success event is planned from noon-7 p.m. March 13 and 9 a.m.-noon March 14 at the Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club, 2850 Lindell Road. Groberg, who sits on the nonprofit’s board of directors, said bargain-hunters can expect to find plenty of new items priced an average of $5 per piece.
“Blazers are a big trend for the season and can be worn over a simple white tee or an embellished tee,” she said, adding that jackets and suits will be $10 at the event. “You can pair these with denim and a great pair of flats or slingbacks.”
To plan your spring wardrobe, Groberg recommends starting in your own closet first.
“We only wear about 40 percent of the things in our closet,” she said. “Go in and shop your closet. It isn’t about how many clothes you have, but more about having the right clothes and knowing how to rework them to create versatile outfits.”
Two of her favorite basics are a crisp white blouse and a basic white T-shirt. “These two pieces will be your go-to’s, from casual to work to date night,” she said.
Another easy way to update your look is to throw in a pop of navy, such as a scarf. “Accessories are a great way to freshen up your wardrobe,” Groberg said, adding she also loves a statement chunky gold link necklace.
