Kathryn Harper describes herself as a people person. She officiates weddings on the weekends, enjoys time with her children and grandchildren, and at one time was a mentor for and helped raise more than $200,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.. Now she will be putting those people skills to work as Gatski Commercial Real Estate Services’ property manager.
In her new position, Harper will handle all aspects of tenant-related issues for the commercial property management company. It’s a role she is experienced in, as she most recently served as a property manager for CBRE.
“Property management is where I’ve settled in,” she said. “I happen to enjoy it, and it’s what I’m good at. And I figure, why fix it if it’s not broken?”
When she lived in California, she used her Master’s Degree in physiology and exercise to open a fitness center. She also worked with a construction company for eight years, which she said led to positions in development, which drew her to the real estate industry, which eventually morphed into a career in property management.
Harper has been in the real estate industry since moving to Las Vegas in 1992, working with large home builders, in real estate asset management and as a property manager. She holds a Nevada Real Estate License and Nevada Property Management Permit and has experience with residential, commercial and large commercial Class A properties.
Now, she is looking forward to setting down roots with Gatski, helping the company grow and advancing her career even more, possibly working up to a senior manager role.
“I feel that Frank Gatski survived the recession. He’s a smart businessman. He repositioned himself and his company in a way that provides a long-term position for me and many others,” Harper said. “The company is not too big, it’s family-oriented, and Frank cares very much about his employees. You’re not just a number here.”
