HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas became the official practice and tournament home for UNLV’s 8-Bit collegiate esports intramural teams. Hosting its first “UNLV Night” for a crowd of faculty, students and alumni, the venue debuted the UNLV-branded VIP room with a special ribbon cutting presentation by Timothy Toepfer, UNLV Program Coordinator for Sport Clubs and Youth Camps, and Aaron Smith, Marketing & Social Media Manager.
In addition, the arena team presented players with branded team jerseys.
“Celebrating this special partnership with UNLV is just another step in our commitment to supporting the gaming community in Las Vegas,” said Smith. “There are not many collegiate esports teams that receive major partnership opportunities, so we are excited to be one of the few with UNLV.”
Aiming to support the growing esports community in Las Vegas, the partnership will include a dedicated VIP practice room for the teams, customized jerseys and future hosting of events and tournament participation at the arena.
8-Bit at UNLV specializes in esports competitions, tournament viewing parties, and social events, and supports five gaming groups representing League of Legends, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Fortnite, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
