The District at Green Valley Ranch, a mixed-use shopping, dining and lifestyle center in the Las Vegas Valley, today announced the addition of The Local, a 1,000-square-foot wine bar to be located between Bath & Body Works and Chico’s.
The brainchild of Chris Connors and Li Hsun Sun, co-owners of the wildly successful Me Gusta Tacos fast-casual Mexican restaurant, and their partners, local realtor Randy Maher and his wife Amy Maher, The Local is expected to open at The District at Green Valley Ranch by mid-May.
“If anyone knows what locals want, it’s the founders of The Local,” says Heath McCue, CMD, Senior Director of Marketing for the shopping center. “As the owners of the very popular Me Gusta Tacos, Chris Connors and Li Hsun Sun are deeply entrenched in this community and they have their ear to the ground. Combined with the talents of their partners, the team has put together a unique gathering place with a feel and flavor all its own. The Local provides the perfect complement to its co-tenants with a fresh new atmosphere visitors will flock to for an after-work drink or an evening of fun, food and friendship.”
With a bright, airy ambience and modern décor, The Local will offer unique wines from boutique wineries in Sonoma, Napa and Santa Maria, California, that cannot be purchased in grocery stores. The wines served will combine the elegance and sophistication of old-world Europe with the modern flair of new-world wines from Australia, New Zealand and the United States. The Local will also serve a variety of beers and sipping liquors including tequilas, rums and scotches as well as a few simple, classic mixed drinks like martinis, great champagne for special occasions, and a variety of complementary foods ranging from charcuterie to bruschetta, paninis, and a host of salads.
“The Local is a place where you can go with family and friends to enjoy a good bottle of wine and good company,” says Chris Connors, co-owner of The Local. “And despite all of the excitement in Las Vegas, there is actually a real need for a place like this in nearby Henderson. I grew up in this area, went to school here, and I even worked on the Strip for several years. And throughout all that time, I have always wanted this kind of place, a place where people can go after work or get together for lunch that’s off the Strip, close to home, with a solid wine list, good beers and a nice mixed drink menu. What I had in my mind’s eye was something you’d see in San Francisco or New York City – a small, quaint, homey atmosphere where you can just breathe and enjoy life for a while. That’s what we’ve created with The Local.”
