The Mob Museum Announces July Events
The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement
, has announced its roster of public programs for July.

  • Sixth Annual Blood Drive with American Red Cross, Tuesday, July 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Mob Museum is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive in the third floor Goodman Room. As part of its commitment to the community, the museum is pleased to offer one complimentary single admission to each person donating blood during the event. The ticket may be used through Dec. 31, 2018.
  • Jeff Novitzky and The War on Doping in Professional Sports, Saturday, July 7, 2 p.m. Novitzky is a former federal law enforcement agent. With a background in athletics, he was the relentless and exacting nemesis of celebrity dopers including Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, Lance Armstrong and others. Novitzky will share his experiences from some of those investigations, techniques he used as well as evidence he collected to find and stop those athletes who cheated to win.
  • Science of Crime – Latent Fingerprints, Saturday, July 14, 2 – 3 p.m. Forensic science is a complex discipline that encompasses more than a dozen distinct fields. This program in the Science of Crime series explores  the topic of latent prints and how forensic scientists match them in the course of an investigation. This program is presented in the Organized Crime Today exhibit on the first floor by The Mob Museum and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Forensic Laboratory.
  • Community Safety Forum – Home Safety, Sunday, July 15, 2 – 3 p.m. Each month, the Museum partners with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to offer FREE Community Safety Forums. These events, which include FREE Museum admission sponsored by NV Energy, address ways members of the public can inform and protect themselves. July’s forum will focus on home safety with discussion on Nevada laws that determine a home invasion, burglary and robbery. Officers will also share prevention strategies to help keep homes safe. Live-streaming of this presentation will be available on the Museum’s website.
  • Courtroom Conversation – Police Use of Force: Policies, Practices and Politics of Reform, Wednesday, July 25, 7 – 9 p.m. Join Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD); Christine Cole, safety and justice reform expert; Greg McCurdy, retired law enforcement executive; and Captain Kelly McMahill for this rare opportunity for citizens of Las Vegas to hear a frank and in-depth conversation among key players in the dramatic reforms of the LVMPD’s use-of-force policies and practices. Police use of force is one of the most contentious issues in America today. A number of controversial police shootings in the Las Vegas area in 2010 and 2011 prompted a federal inquiry, leading to comprehensive reforms within the LVMPD. The collaborative reform process has transformed the department into a national model for other police agencies to emulate. Panelists will explain and discuss the reforms to the LVMPD’s use-of-force policies and practices and how they have improved community relations. Admission for this event free for Museum Members or with general admission.
