Primm Valley Resort & Casino will host the inaugural Primm Latin Music Festival on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Star of the Desert Arena with some of the hottest Latin musical acts, along with food trucks, fireworks and amusement rides (Pictured: Café Tacvba).
Café Tacvba first rose to fame in the early 90s with the release of their self-titled debut album, fusing a variety of musical styles including punk, hip hop and electronica with regional Mexican genres. After embarking on an international tour, the band released two more critically acclaimed albums, winning a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album for “Reves/Yo Soy” in 1999, as well as a Grammy for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album and two Latin Grammys for Best Alternative Album and Best Rock Song in 2003. The band continued to top the charts throughout the next few years with hits including “Volver a Comenzar,” “Esta Vez” and “No Hay Nadie Como Tú.” In 2008, they broke a record for the most Latin Grammys won in one night, propelling them into the international limelight. Their rock star status continues to present day, with the release of their latest album in 2016 and topping the list of 10 greatest Latin rock albums of all time in “Rolling Stone.”
Renowned regional Mexican sensation La Adictiva Banda San Jose de Mesillas has been a radio staple since 1990. Translated to “the addictive,” the 15-member band has enjoyed a successful career with 13 albums, Latin Grammy nominations and chart toppers including “Después de ti ¿Quién?,” “El Viejó,” “Disfrute Engañarte” and “Un Fin en Culiacan.” The band performs for sold out crowds around the world and released its most recent album “Durmiendo en el Lugar Equivocado” in November 2016.
Founded in 1981 by José Hernández, platinum selling Mariachi Sol de Mexico is the first mariachi band to be nominated for a Grammy. Over the last three decades, the band has released 15 studio albums and contributed to film scores for “Seabiscuit,” “Glory Road,” “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” and “Rango.” They continue to tour the world, producing their authentic and energetic rhythms.
