The Best of What Vegas Has to Offer

The Best of What Vegas Has to Offer
Las Vegas has the reputation of being a non-stop casino, partying, decadent city. That perception would have most certainly been the case back in the days of Bugsy Siegel and Frank Sinatra, but now it is very much more refined and offers a huge variety of activities to cater to every single desire, whether that maybe outdoor activities, shopping, gourmet eating, fine art museums, spas, golf, all night dancing, enjoying video slot machines or playing live blackjack into the early hours of the morning or Alternatively, you can take your gaming with you by enjoying online at reputed online casinos like Unibet – on your smartphone or tablet (Pictured: The Venetian Las Vegas)

Now, it will come as a surprise to most people that Las Vegas has really cool art, and I am not just referring to all the stuff one sees in the swanky restaurants and hotels (the Bellagio  houses pieces from Renoir and Picasso). The City Centre has an extensive selection of 25  modern art installations, all proudly displayed within a 67 acre site. Everyone will be able to appreciate work from Richard Long, Henry Moore and Isa Genzken. Furthermore, the first Friday of every month has a more relaxed First Friday event; which a nice mixture of conventional art from up and coming artists, together with hand craft and souvenir stalls.

For those who love the outdoors, then Las Vegas has loads to offer. Why not venture out to the Hoover Dam, and then take a relaxing trip along the Colorado River all the way through the Black Canyon? This is a great experience for the entire family, as the water is calm, so that one can enjoy a swim at the hot springs or river, whilst checking out bighorn sheep and blue herons.

If one is looking for something a bit more physical, then take drive out to The Valley of Fire state park-which is always good for camping and hiking. There are some awesome desert scenery to view, which will almost seem like another world; this is no exaggeration, as this location has been used in films like Total Recall and Star Trek.

One thing that struck me as very intriguing and totally unexpected was the fact that piece of the infamous Titanic’s hull, which was recovered from the sea bed, is now located in Vegas. This exhibition is situated in the Luxor Hotel, where one is walked through the entire life cycle of the ship – from its construction all the way through to its icy end. Anyone into this stuff will be amazed at the artifacts, personal effects of the actual passengers and crew; together with a real life replica of the Grand Staircase.

So it is pretty clear Las Vegas has more than what meets the eye, but one can’t really visit this exciting city without experiencing the lavish and sumptuous casino scene. There are the usual names like The Bellagio, The Mirage and Caesars Palace. However, I would recommend some unique pleasures like The Venetian Casino and Grand Canal, as well as the Mandalay Bay Casino, Aquarium and beach.
