If bowling for a good cause is up your alley, spare us a few minutes as we strike up a conversation about the Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) ‘Bowl for the Gold’ tournament on Thursday, Aug. 31, at Texas Star Lanes inside Texas Station Hotel & Casino.

Bowlers may register as an individual or a team of four people to participate in the event, which raises money in support of SONV to provide free year-round sports training and competitions, along with education and health programs, to more than 3,200 children and adults with intellectual disabilities across the state.

Registration is priced at $50 per person, or $200 for a four-person team, and includes three games, shoe rental and meal voucher. In addition, each team will be joined by a Special Olympics athlete for competition. Additional incentives are available for increased fundraising goals of $100, $500 and $1,000. A lively group of celebrity impersonators will also be in attendance to add to the fun.
