Annual Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival Returns for Nine Days of Free Events
The Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival returns for nine days of educational activities set to take place April 28 – May 6, with various free activations across the valley. 

Boasting to be one of the largest educational events in the state, the festival hopes to spark curiosity and passion while celebrating the science and technology that makes this region special.

With last year’s record-breaking attendance of more than 26,000 people, this year’s run indicates up to 50 FREE events and hopes to see just under 30,000 people. A highlight of programs can be found below. For a full schedule of events, please visit

  • Friday, April 28 – CSN Science & Technology Expo: The Festival’s kick-off event invites students to check out the cool science and technology happening at CSN.
  • Saturday, April 29 – Junior Paleontology Day, Tule Springs Hike: Join Las Vegas Natural History Museum resident paleontologist, Dr. Josh Bonde on a guided hike through Tule Springs State Park and discover historical dig sites and explore geology of the area.
  • Sunday, April 30 – Science is Everywhere Day: Features dozens of free behind-the-scenes programs and VIP tours at locations throughout the valley where real science happens everyday.
  • Monday, May 1 – Bugs, Reptiles and Crawly Things: Join Herpetologist Ken Foose and friends as they bring out some of the most interesting snakes, spiders, bugs and reptiles in Las Vegas.
  • Tuesday, May 2 – Are We Alone? In Search of Intelligent Life in the Cosmos.” Dr. Jill Tarter, co-founder of the SETI Project shares her extensive knowledge in the extraterrestrial realm.
  • Wednesday, May 3 – Global Warming: Hoax, Doomsday, or What?” A climate change debate with Michael Shermer and James Taylor, moderated by local meteorologist and personality Nathan Tannenbaum.
  • Thursday, May 4 – May The Science Be With You: Desert Research Institute & The National Atomic Testing Museum open their doors for Las Vegas’ official Star Wars celebration complete with hands-on activities, lab tours and a special meet-and-greet with Colin Cantwell, creator of the Death Star, X-Wing, TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon.
  • Friday, May 5 – Cows, Goats, and Horses, Oh My!: Rediscover historic Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs and get up close and personal with the animals that call it home, even learn about the science of horses in the Old Dairy Barn.
  • Saturday, May 6 – Giant Science & Technology Expo: Packed with interactive activities, demonstrations, and entertainment from over 80 organizations throughout the valley, the festival concludes with its biggest full-day event at Cashman Center.
