There’s No Place Like Home! as the Super Soulful Musical "The Wiz" Eases Its Way into The Smith Center
Celebrate 40 years of musical magic with the Broadway musical sensation The Wiz Live at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Ease on down to see the Tony Award-winning musical on September 3 for two fabulous shows at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

This stunning stage production of the now-classic musical is “Ozzian” fun for the entire family, and Broadway in the H.O.O.D is excited to bring Dorothy’s journey live onstage at The Smith Center.

Directed by Torrey Russell, The Wiz retells the classic story of “The Wizard of Oz” with multi-cultural flair, a cast of 250 local performers, a live orchestra, and special effects that will have you and your family in awe! What do you get when a Scarecrow, a Tinman, a little girl named Dorothy and one fabulous Lion embark on the journey of a lifetime? A non-stop party that tells the touching story of friendship, family, and the universal power of love. With music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls and book by William F. Brown, The Wiz won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, and had a triumphant four-year run on Broadway. The Wiz features a Tony Award-winning musical score with enchanting songs like “Brand New Day,” “Home,” and “Ease On Down the Road!” In 1978, The Wiz was made into a cult-classic movie, and in 2015 NBC premiered a live-stage production of The Wiz that broadcasted to over 11.5 million viewers across the world.

Broadway In The Hood has created a fresh and modern take with the show that will have audiences dancing in the aisles, and easing on down the road for months to come. With set design by Emmy Award winner Andy Walmsley, Musical Direction by LeSean Lewis, and breathtaking choreography by Avree Walker, the Las Vegas production of The Wiz will be the hottest ticket for Labor Day weekend.

Tickets for The Wiz are on sale now and start as low as $19. Tickets can be purchased by visiting, by phone at 702-749-2000 or 808-326-6868 (TTY) or at the box office located at 361 Symphony Park Ave. For preferred seating and special rates for groups of 10 or more, contact 702-749-2348.
