American Airlines, Blue Man Group, Sands Foundation and ThanksUSA Host “Tribute to the Troops”

November 7, 2009 by

American Airlines, Blue Man Group, Sands Foundation and ThanksUSA are hosting the Tribute to the Troops Wounded Warriors Charter Flight on Nov. 11, 2009 at the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS). The public is invited to attend the welcome ceremony to honor and pay tribute to these wounded warriors at LAS.

In a distinctive salute to U.S. armed forces during a special Veteran’s Day observance in 2008, American Airlines unveiled two aircraft featuring a yellow-ribbon decal on the tails along with the slogan, “In support of all who serve.” American now has three aircraft that fly with the yellow-ribbon decal, — 757 Flagship Freedom, a 737 Flagship Liberty and an American Eagle ATR. The Flagship Freedom will transport these heroes to LAS.

Upon arrival at The Venetian, the wounded warriors will receive a red carpet welcome featuring singing gondoliers and cheering team members. In addition, there will be a special performance including the Honor Guard, Nellis Troops and “America’s Tenor,” Steve Amerson. This is the fourth time Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson and the Sands Foundation have hosted to say thank you and honor our wounded warriors.

Blue Man Group honors America’s heroes and military families with proceeds from its 7 p.m. performance on Nov. 12 going to ThanksUSA which provides education scholarships for the spouses and children of military members. All tickets to the special performance begin at $100 and can be purchased by calling The Venetian Box Office at 866-641-SHOW (7469) or 702-414-9000 and mentioning the code: ThanksUSA.

Bank of America and Operation Heroes are both generous sponsors for the Tribute to the Troops event.
