Pole Position Raceway, in partnership with the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) and Office of Traffic Safety’s Zero Teen Fatalities Program, Nevada Driving Schools and Sudden Impact Auto Body, held a Teen Distracted Driving Public Service Message event on Thursday, April 30, at the high-performance indoor kart track at Pole Position Raceway.

The event was held in culmination of Distracted Driving Awareness Month and in efforts to bring awareness to and graphically illustrate the dangers of distracted driving in teenagers in Southern Nevada.
With teen drivers involved in 38 fatalities in Nevada in 2014, the organizations teamed up to demonstrate the real-time journey of how distractions while behind the wheel lead to impaired judgment and too often, tragedy. Five students from the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Zeta Tau Alpha sorority served as volunteers for the event and distractions included texting on cell phones, consuming food, applying makeup, drinking soda and more. The experiment was held on a private closed course, separate from the public.
Pole Position Raceway was created in September 2005 in Corona, Calif. The growth and expanding popularity of indoor karting, combined with first-class operations, have made Pole Position Raceway one of the fastest growing companies in the sport. Pole Position Raceway has two Las Vegas locations with a total of 13 locations nationwide and three additional locations under construction.
