The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (The Center) and presenting sponsor Zappos.com will host the return of ARTrageous Vegas to the Strip featuring an evening of extravagant music, culture and mind-blowing art at The Tropicana Las Vegas Havana Room on Saturday, May 16 from 7 to 10 p.m. (Photo credit: Linda Q Photography).
Curated by City of Las Vegas Arts Commissioner Brian “Paco” Alvarez, ARTrageous Vegas features a juried art show and sale, signature cocktails, fashion shows, a rotation of live acts including singers, dancers and performance artists and plenty of amazing art. During the event, The Center will honor its Volunteers of the Year Chuck and Andrew Stutz from Human Rights Campaign as well as its Community Organization of the Year Golden Rainbow.
Guests must be 21 and older to attend ARTrageous Vegas and are asked to wear white or pastel colors to allow the colorful art to take center stage. Tickets are available for $35 in advance at artrageousvegas.org/tickets/ and $40 at the door. VIP tickets are also available for $100 and include entry into an exclusive pre-party from 6 to 7 p.m. featuring open bar, a preview of the evening’s artwork and a meet and greet with the artists. All proceeds benefit The Center.
In addition to ARTrageous Vegas, The Center will host ARTrageous Vegas Youth: Journey to the Center of Art on Saturday, April 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Taking place at The Center, the event allows young artists and entertainers aged 13 to 24 to showcase their talents to the community. Suggested donations to attend the event are $5.
In 2014, The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (The Center) celebrated 20 years as a community-based organization supporting and promoting activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer community, its allies and low to moderate income residents in Southern Nevada.
