Approximately 40 children and parents gathered at Todd English P.U.B. last night (Thursday, Dec. 18) for a holiday feast and were pleasantly surprised when Santa Claus made an early visit to hand-deliver presents to each child.

Families of students from Cynthia Cunningham Elementary, Elizabeth Wilhelm Elementary, E.W. Griffith Elementary and Quannah McCall Elementary were treated to the ultimate dining experience, greeted by staff donning Santa hats and spreading seasonal joy as they escorted each family to an individual table.

“Many parents that CIS Nevada works with so desperately want to provide a nutritious meal, gifts and happy memories for their children, but financial situations keep their hands tied,” said Todd English P.U.B. General Manager John Lanata. “We are honored to partner with CIS Nevada and The Shops at Crystals to really show these students and their families a great holiday season.”

In a season known for spending quality time together, hard-working parents and their children relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company over delicious fare, including prime rib, ham, turkey, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The meal concluded on a sweet note with a choice of dessert.

As the last bites of dessert disappeared, Jolly Old St. Nick made his debut to the delight of a room full of excited children. One by one, each child sat on the Big Man’s lap and received a present. Children eagerly ripped open their gifts with squeals of joy once they realized each gift was something off their wish list. In the weeks leading up to the dinner, CIS Nevada asked each child what they wanted for the holiday and The Shops at Crystals made their wishes come true. With true happiness and gratitude written all over their faces, parents watched as the holidays were made for their children, who might otherwise be unable to provide gifts.

Farid Matraki, senior vice president and general manager of The Shops at Crystals, said, “We believe in what CIS Nevada has been able to do for students and families. We are always thrilled to partner with charitable organizations that can help strengthen the Las Vegas community. It is our privilege to be a part of this special dinner, which will create a truly memorable holiday season for the families involved.”

Parents also received a gift of their own. Todd English P.U.B. recognized the needs of the families in attendance, sending each home with a gift basket filled with goodies to ensure the children have healthy meals and snacks during the winter break.

As the evening wrapped up, the true reason for the season was felt by the families, students and the enthusiastic staff members from Todd English P.U.B., Crystals and CIS Nevada.

Cheri Ward, Southern Nevada director of CIS of Nevada, said, “The holidays are a time for giving, sharing and opening hearts, which is exactly what Todd English P.U.B. and The Shops at Crystals have done for our students and families. We are incredibly grateful for the partnership we have with these two great businesses that helps to ensure a happy holiday for our students and their families that may not otherwise come so easily.”
