is heating up the grill with a BBQ Cook-off & Festival on Sunday, Oct. 19 from noon – 4 p.m. at the Temple Beth Sholom parking lot (Pictured: Brisket of Oz – from previous year’s event)

The festival is a community wide event featuring a kosher BBQ Cook-Off, 18 celebrity chefs from across the Las Vegas valley, amusement-like activities, live music, BBQ fare, beer & wine, a Man Cave sporting the Sunday Ticket and cigar rolling, a Ladies’ Lounge featuring massages and nail polish swag, a video game lounge for the kids, cupcake decorating and so much more to entertain all ages. The event is open to the public.

During the event, a 20-team food competition will face-off to determine who has the best brisket, beef ribs and beans, along with who has the best team name and booth design, competing for cash prizes totaling $1800. Local VIP chefs will judge the teams BBQ fare, including: Chef Rick Moonen of RM Seafood, Chef Stephen Hopcraft of STK Las Vegas, Chef Brian Howard of Comme Ca, Chef Angelo Sosa of Top Chef and others will determine the winners. This year’s festival addition is a Kosher Food Truck, where Guest Chef John Courtney will be selling gourmet sliders and skewers. All proceeds go to the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada and their Camp K’helah scholarship program.

A variety of activities will be available for both adults and children including: zip line, mechanical bull, bungee trampoline, laser tag arena, bounce house, Rock the Tea, Mad Science, MOB Museum, Tribal Advantage Martial Arts, TumbleBus, ArtParty4U, and Lilly’s Cake Shop. The event will also include photo booths, desert tortoise exhibit from Interpretive Association Red Rock Canyon, close up magic by Robb Weinstock, free professional chair massages, and health screenings by Touro University.
