Mötley Crüe Coming to Mandalay Bay August 1
05-15-2008 by VegasNews Staff

Mötley Crüe, the world’s most celebrated rock band, will bring the next generation of rock superstars on the road with them for what will undoubtedly be the hottest ticket of the year for “Crüe Fest ‘08.” The tour will stop at the Mandalay Bay Events Center Friday, Aug. 1 and the concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

“We are so excited not only to headline our own annual summer festival, but also to be able to share the stage with the next generation of great rock bands,” said Mötley Crüe band member Nikki Sixx. “There isn’t a lot Mötley Crüe hasn’t done so to say this summer’s festival is going to be about rock ‘n roll excess is an understatement.”

Mötley Crüe also has announced that on June 17 they will release Saints of Los Angeles, their first studio album recorded with all of the original band members in more than a decade. Lyrically, the new album follows the story of the band’s NY Times best-selling memoir The Dirt, a no-holds-barred, tell-all that features every detail of the band’s exploits.

Along with Mötley Crüe, there is an impressive line-up awaiting the tour which will include special guests Buckcherry and Papa Roach. Buckcherry, a Grammy-nominated hard rock and glam metal band, formed in 1995 and released two albums – 1999’s eponymous debut and 2001’s Time Bomb – before dissolving in 2002. In 2005, Josh Todd (lead vocals) and Keith Nelson (guitar) created a new band using the Buckcherry moniker and in April 2006 released a new album, 15. It spawned Buckcherry’s biggest crossover hits to date, “Crazy Bitch” and the band’s first Hot 100 Top 10 hit, “Sorry.”

Papa Roach is a four-piece rock band from California that broke into the mainstream with Infest, their major-label debut album in 2000 which went platinum three times. The group’s success continued with later releases Lovehatetragedy (2002) and Getting Away with Murder (2004). The group’s fourth major album, The Paramour Sessions, was released in September 2006.

Tickets priced at $95, $75, and $55, not including applicable service charges, go on sale Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. and will be available at the Mandalay Bay Events Center box office. Tickets also will be sold at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith’s Food and Drug Centers, Macy’s West at the Fashion Show Mall and Ritmo Latino). To charge by phone with a major credit card, call the Mandalay Bay box office at (702) 632-7580 or Ticketmaster at (702) 474-4000.
