Celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month CSN The College of Southern Nevada invites members of the Southern Nevada community to participate in our celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month in April with some exciting events. April 9 –There will be a martial arts demonstration at CSN’s Henderson campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 11 – ARTAPALOOZA in the Henderson campus Building B parking lot from 5 to 9 p.m. April 15 -- Panel Discussion: “Honoring Our Past and Embracing Our Future.” Expected panelists are Assemblywoman Francis Allen, Deputy Secretary of State Chris Lee, Catherine Siefert, Vice President of Hotel Operations at Treasure Island (TI) and President of the Asian Chamber of Commerce Stan Saito. Thill Raghu, CSN Professor of philosophy in the Department of Social Sciences, will moderate the discussion. The panel will also take questions from the audience. This event will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at CSN’s West Charleston campus in Building K, room 101. April 16 – Movie “Rashomon” (Japan 1950) will be hosted by Professor Ed Weir on the CSN Charleston campus, room B203 at 6 p.m. April 17 – CSN Student Panel on the West Charleston campus in Building K, room 101 from 1 to 3 p.m. “Asians and Multiculturalism: Who Are We?” April 21 – Video Presentation: Filipino Folk Dances, hosted by CSN Professor Connie Robinson, at 6 p.m. on the Charleston campus, Building K, room 123. April 22 – Presentation: Asian American Food & Nutrition facilitated by Agnes Galves from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Cheyenne campus room 1218. April 23 – The Asian Pacific Islander Excellence Awards ceremony will conclude CSN’s Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The ceremony will take place on the Cheyenne campus in the recital hall inside the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. CSN’s student, staff and faculty as well as a member of the community will be honored at the ceremony. The event will also include various demonstrations.
