“When we first moved to Vegas, our hoity-toity New York art and theater friends all screamed in horror. Now they are all regular Vegas visitors and headliners. We’ve loved every minute of our 20 years in Vegas and are wicked excited we get to spend another six at the Rio in the best theater in town. I hate to hurt our next negotiations with Caesars Entertainment, but we have no plans to leave. We intend to die in office,” stated Penn Jillette, the larger and louder half of Penn & Teller.
“It is always exciting when we are able to do something to make Las Vegas history, and the announcement of Penn & Teller’s contract extension is no different,” said Gary Selesner, president of Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas Region. “Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino is very honored to be the property that Penn & Teller call home, and we look forward to many more successful years with these talented entertainers.”
Throughout the years, Penn & Teller have remained on the forefront of the industry, appearing in their own Emmy-winning network specials as well as famously-outrageous appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” the “TODAY” show, and television series such as “Friends,” “West Wing,” “Dancing With The Stars,” and even as animated guests on “The Simpsons.” In 2012, Penn was a standout on NBC’s hit show “Celebrity Apprentice,” and will compete again on the show’s All-Star season premiering Sunday, March 3.
Penn & Teller landed in Las Vegas in 1993 and began a headlining engagement at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in January 2001. In addition to entertaining audiences for the past 20 years with their daring trademark wit and magic, Penn & Teller have been huge supporters of local Vegas charities such as Aid for AIDS of Nevada, United Blood Services and Opportunity Village.
Penn & Teller’s live show has been called: “Pure entertainment and demented originality,” (Newsweek); “Hilarious! Mind-bending! Mind-boggling!,” (New York Magazine); and “The single best show in Las Vegas.” (Los Angeles Times). They perform in the Penn & Teller Theatre at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino nightly (dark Thursdays and Fridays) at 9 p.m. Tickets are $75 and $85 and $104.50 for VIP/Ampersand Seating, and are available by calling 702-777-7776.
