Maxwell to Perform at The Pearl at The Palms June 26

May 19, 2009 by

R&B sensation returns to The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Casino Resort on Friday, June 26, 2009.

Maxwell burst on to the R&B scene in the late ‘90s, bringing a new sound of soul to the radio airwaves following many years spent performing in the New York club scene. Drawing from inspiration including Prince and Marvin Gaye, Maxwell’s powerful songs brought him much success and acclaim from fans and critics alike who were gladly accepting the new sound.

Shortly after signing with Columbia Records in 1994, Maxwell released his debut album, Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite (1996). The romantic-inspired album flew well below the radar until the singles “…Til the Cops Com Knockin’” and “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” hit the airwaves sending the album to platinum status and earning Maxwell a Grammy nomination. He earned a second Grammy nomination with the live version of “Whenever, Wherever, Whatever” from his MTV Unplugged performance.

Maxwell’s second full-length was released in 1998 with great anticipation. Embrya entered the charts at number three and also reached platinum status. Following that release, Maxwell added to the soundtrack of the movie Life with his single “Fortunate” which was ranked as the number one R&B hit of the year in Billboard magazine. In 2001, Maxwell’s third album Now entered the charts at number one, holding Maxwell’s spot as one of the top R&B performers of the time.

Maxwell’s latest project, Black Summers’ Night is a highly-anticipated trilogy with the single “Pretty Wings” recently released. The first disc of the trilogy is set for release July 7, 2009. The following two discs will be released in 2009 and 2010.
