Everclear to Perform at The Cannery March 31

Art Alexakis, founder and frontman of the group Everclear, never shied away from reflecting on his troubled experiences early in life. Collaborating with original band members, Alexakis used those experiences and translated them into song and eventually multi-platinum album sales, a Grammy nomination and a number of recording and music awards.
Everclear will perform at The Club inside the Cannery Casino, March 31, 2012 at 8 p.m.
Many music critics believe it’s not just the fact that Alexakis relies on his life experiences for inspiration that is unusual. As the Los Angeles Times’ Richard Cromelin wrote about Everclear’s music “ …(Alexakis) spits it out with a Lennon-like candor and an unruly, unstoppable energy.”
Everclear’s fans are just as supportive. Many of the group’s songs made it into the Top 5 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart including “Santa Monica” (which was also #1 on Billboards Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart), “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You a New Life,” “Father of Mine” and “Wonderful.”
Everclear received a Grammy nomination for the Best Rock Instrumental for “El Distorto de Melodica” in 1997 and in 1998, was named Billboard’s “Modern Rock Artist of the Year.”
Throughout his life, music has been a constant source of peace for Alexakis. After longtime band members left the group, Everclear’s Welcome To The Drama Club release in 2006 showed that new members and new inspiration would bring a cohesive mix together again.
