Butthole Surfers to Perform at The Pearl at The Palms August 28

June 7, 2011 by

Psychedelic rockers Butthole Surfers are set to perform at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at 9 p.m.

Stemming from the underground scene of the ’80s, shock rockers Butthole Surfers led the pack of non-traditional, psychedelic rock with their unique style which gave them a large cult-like following. In 1983 they released their self titled album on the Dead Kennedy’s Jello Biafra’s label Alternative Tentacles, adding some immediate recognition.

In the 1990’s with the height of the grunge scene, Butthole Surfers’ sound became more identifiable to the mainstream audience. In 1985, they released Psychic…Powerless…Another Man’s Sac on indie label Touch & Go followed a year late by Rembrandt Pussyhorse. In 1992, they signed with Capitol and after a series of studio albums, released Electriclarryland in 1996 which hit The Billboard 200 charts and featured hit single “Pepper,” which peaked at #19 on the Mainstream Rock chart. In 2001, the group released their latest studio album, Weird Revolution, which featured previously unreleased tracks.

Doors will open at 8 p.m. and show time is 9 p.m. The Pearl Box Office is open Sunday from noon – 7:00 p.m., Monday from noon – 10:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from noon – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon – 10 p.m. The Pearl is sponsored by Citi; for more information on upcoming concerts, please call 702-942-6888.
