and Encore Beach Club at Encore Las Vegas kicked off their one year anniversary weekend of festivities last night at Surrender with great musical fanfare, as a sea of people filled to capacity the opulent 60,000 square-foot entertainment complex (Pictured above: Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki and A-Trak – Photo credit: Bryan Steffy).

Co-owner Sean Christie has assembled a world-class music line-up for this weekend’s parties and last night resident DJ’s, Scottish sensation Calvin Harris, and Steve Aoki, a leading figure in the wildly-popular electro-dance scene, were on the bill to entertain, but music fans were treated to quite a few welcome surprises.

Calvin Harris got the party started performing to screaming, dancing, and jumping fans. Then, Steve Aoki took over DJ duties and brought on surprise MC, LiL Jon. Lil Jon took the microphone, and jumped up on the DJ booth, pumping up the already electrified crowd. The “Celebrity Apprentice” alumnus and resident DJ threw t-shirts into the swarm of revelers causing a frenzy of excitement. The surge of people literally rocked the DJ booth, requiring brawny security reinforcements to step in to secure it.

Jon then sprayed the crowd with champagne which the crowd absolutely seemed to relish. Aoki then offered up a pair of his headphones to the crowd, which Jon grabbed and threw into the mass of people, causing dozes of fans to scurry for the keepsake in a scene reminiscent of NFL’ers trying to recover a fumble in a championship game. Jon then switched sides of the DJ booth, and Aoki jumped up as well and sprayed the crowd with champagne once again. He then dove into the crowd where he was swallowed up by the deluge before body surfing back atop the DJ booth where both he and Lil Jon sprayed the throng of poolside partiers for a third time.

Lil Jon then left the booth where he joined pals, music superstar Jermaine Dupree, singer Bobby Anthony, and retired NFL’er Warren Sapp. Calvin Harris then returned to the booth and he and Aoki tag-teamed the tunes and performed together for more than an hour during which Aoki thanked co-owner Sean Christie and music director Shecky Green.

About 20 minutes into the joint set, Macy Gray arrived to the booth after her DJ set at Blush Boutique Nightclub at Wynn, joining the two music heavy weights. To the delight of the packed house, Gray grabbed the microphone and repeatedly chanted, “Get your hands in the air” and kept the frenetic energy high for about 10 minutes before give the “stage” back to Aoki. While departing, she gave Aoki the sign for phone (thumb to ear, pinky to mouth) seen mouthing “call me”. Might there be a collaboration in the works?

For an encore, Aoki brought back Calvin Harris who performed his new single, “Bounce.” During the song, electronic music pioneer A-Trak entered the club and bee-lined to the booth. The three posed for a few photos, laughed and chatted for a moment, before an unforgettable evening-into-early morning of music and celebration winded down.

Earlier in the night over a Las Vegas Nightlife Group’s Blush Boutique Nightclub at Wynn, Macy Gray met up with Jermaine Dupri, where they hung out in VIP, chatted up a storm and shared some laughs before she hit the DJ booth. The crowd cheered as she took over the music in the venue. She began her set with Led Zeppelin’s Heartbreaker, which immediately got the party jumping into high-gear where she kept it all night long.

Also in attendance was UFC fighter Jake Shields.

Sunday night at Blush, “Peepshow” and “Holly’s World” co-star Josh Strickland performs his single, “Report to the Floor”.
