In a career spanning 45 years, Lily Tomlin, one of America’s foremost comediennes, continues to venture across an ever-widening range of media, starring in television, theater, motion pictures, animation, and video. Her characters for TV’s Laugh In brought attention to and set the stage for Tomlin’s illustrious career. Notable characters include: the irascible, prune-faced telephone operator “Ernestine;” the precocious sandbox philosopher, six year old “Edith Ann,” in an oversized rocking chair; and the “Tasteful Lady,” imperious and upper-class, who never fails to puncture her own pretense.

In addition to Laugh In, Tomlin has appeared on countless television programs such as The West Wing, Murphy Brown, The Simpsons, The Magic School Bus and recently Desperate Housewives and Damages. For her work in television, Tomlin has received six Emmy Awards, a CableAce Award for executive producing the film adaptation of The Search, and two Peabody Awards—for the ABC television special, Edith Ann’s Christmas: Just Say Noël and for narrating and executive producing the HBO film, The Celluloid Closet.

Tomlin has appeared in nearly 20 films including 9 to 5, The Pink Panther 2, A Prairie Home Companion, Tea with Mussolini, Flirting with Disaster, Big Business and her film debut, Robert Altman’s Nashville, for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

On stage, Tomlin received multiple accolades for her one-woman Broadway performance in her partner, writer Jane Wagner’s The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. She received a Tony Award for Best Actress and the Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics’ Circle Awards. Tomlin also received a Tony Award for another one-woman Broadway show, Appearing Nightly.

Tomlin received a Grammy Award for her comedy album, This is a Recording, as well as nominations for her subsequent albums Modern Scream, And That’s the Truth, and On Stage.

Ms. Tomlin is the recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American humor.

Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are available starting from $39.95, plus tax and convenience fees, and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.365.7075 or visiting www.orleanscasino.com.
