Actor Omari Hardwick Supports Efforts to Benefit Local Homeless Teens at Annual Blue Jeans and Blazers Event

May 6, 2011 by

Omari Hardwick, of the TNT hit series Dark Blue” fame, will join The Movement and Prosperous Investments for the annual Blue Jeans and Blazers event to benefit homeless teens in Las Vegas. The event will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 11 p.m. at the Hard Rock Cafe on The Strip and is a part of the Hard Rock’s 40 Charitable Acts in 40 Days celebration, in conjunction with the brand’s 40th Anniversary.

The goal of the event is to collect more than 500 pairs of blue jeans for homeless teens in Nevada. For the donation of a new or gently worn pair of jeans, guests can purchase tickets at the door for just $20 ($25 without a jean donation). Pre-sale tickets are available for $16.50 and all guests are encouraged to make jean donations. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at www.guestlistapp.com/events/54732.

Tarek “Terk” Stevens president of The ANDIYAH foundation is committed to joining The Movement team in their efforts to help Nevada youth.

“I’m happy to support The Movement and their Blue Jeans and Blazers event,” said Stevens, “With Omari as the guest host, the event is sure to be a success. Even though his career has exploded, he understands the importance of reaching back to support teens who, through a series of unfortunate circumstances, find themselves homeless.”

Hardwick, a former star athlete, lived in his car when he was a struggling actor new to Hollywood. Today, with a string of successes, including Kick-Ass alongside Nicolas Cage, and The Guardian opposite Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher, Hardwick is committed to supporting worthy causes. Hardwick can be seen in the newly released film I Will Follow.

According to The National Alliance to End Homelessness, 671,859 people experience homelessness every night in America. In Nevada alone, there are more than 10,000 homeless children. The majority of homeless youth are between the ages of 15 and 17. For more information and statistics about homelessness in Nevada, please visit Homeless Children America.
