The third annual World Series of Slots tournament, held at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino April 15-17, welcomed nearly 300 competitors from around the country battling through numerous exciting rounds, and awarded approximately $250,000 in prize money.

Houston resident James Hudson, walked away as the world champion with the $100,000 grand prize and championship bracelet for his slot victory, followed by Lance Purcell in second place with $15,000, Gomer Hill in third place winning $10,000 and Alfredo Hasbunghattas rounding out the top four with $8,000 in prize money.

Grand prize winner Hudson has played in all three World Series of Slots tournaments hosted by the Golden Nugget in addition to playing in all of the preliminary tournaments.

“We’re extremely pleased with the success of our third annual World Series of Slots,” said Mike Leonard, senior vice president of Golden Nugget casino marketing and operations. “Our players come back every year for this one-of-a-kind, tournament and the event continues to grow in number of participants and total prize pool.”

All participants won at least $100, even if they did not advance to round two. Participants who advanced received additional cash prizes for each round, thereafter. The top four winners received any round-advance winnings plus an additional $8,000 for fourth place, $10,000 for third place, $15,000 for second place and $100,000 for the Grand Prize winner, plus the championship bracelet.
