Las Vegas Oscar Night America Party to Benefit Variety Children’s Charity

February 11, 2010 by

The excitement and glamour of Hollywood are coming to Las Vegas on Oscar Night. Residents of Las Vegas can experience the thrills and surprises of the 82nd Academy Awards on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Las Vegas’ own Oscar Night America party.

The Las Vegas event is one of 50 parties officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that will be held across the country on Oscar Night.

Benefiting Variety – the Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas’ Oscar Night celebration will be held at the M Resort Spa Casino, beginning at 4:00 pm. Tickets are now on sale at the Variety office, 3401 Sirius Ave., Suite 1, Las Vegas NV 89102, online at www.varietysn.org, or by calling 702.383.8466.

The Las Vegas audience will watch the Academy Awards telecast on large screens courtesy of KNTV, the Las Vegas affiliate of the ABC Television Network, which broadcasts the Academy Awards presentation. This is the 17th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country. This year marks the 14th year that Las Vegas’ party has been sanctioned by the Academy.

“Oscar Night America parties give communities across the country the opportunity to both share in the excitement of Oscar Night and support worthy causes,” said Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis. “The Academy is very proud that our worldwide television event can benefit so many charities on a local level.”

Official Oscar Night parties last year raised more than $3 million in 52 cities. All money raised stays in the local community.

The Academy will provide party guests in Las Vegas the same official program distributed to guests at the Oscar® presentation at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood.

Las Vegas guests may feel like stars themselves as they arrive at the fabulous M Resort Spa Casino and walk down the red carpet through a crowd of autograph seekers to dine on an array of M cuisine, and enjoy the Academy Awards presentations.

Oscar Night generates excitement all over the world, and with the Academy’s help, our guests will feel like they are on the A-list.
