World Series of Slots to Award $250,000+ Prize Pool

February 8, 2010 by

The Golden Nugget Las Vegas will host the Second Annual World Series of Slots April 16-18 in The Grand.

In this one-of-a kind, two-day event, players will battle head-to-head in several elimination rounds of slot play* for their share of more than $250,000 in prize money, plus a championship bracelet.

“Last year, we had a phenomenal response for the inaugural World Series of Slots event – not only from enthusiastic slot players, but from numerous table players and even some hotel guests who were gaming novices but decided to join in on the exciting festivities and the chance to win $100,000,” said Mike Leonard, senior vice president of Golden Nugget casino marketing and operations. “We hope to build on the success and popularity of last year’s tournament this year and for many years to come.”

The entry fee is $599, and includes tournament admission, a $100 food & beverage credit, a welcome reception and two continental breakfasts. Discounted hotel rates will be available to anyone who enters.

This event begins April 16 at 4 p.m. with a welcome reception and registration.

The first day of tournament play, April 17, begins at 9 a.m. with 10 minute pre-assigned sessions in Round One, Two and Three.

The final day of tournament play, April 18, begins with Round Four and will have guaranteed Wildcard Drawings sometime that morning. Tournament play will continue through all additional rounds until the final four players are decided. Additionally, six free slot play drawings totaling $10,000 will be drawn at 1:30 p.m., five for $1,000 and one for $5,000, followed by the final four tournament at 2 p.m. Players progressing to this tournament will have a one-in-four chance of taking home the $100,000 Grand Prize.

Cash prizes will be awarded after each round. All participants will win at least $200 even if they don’t advance to round two. Participants who advance will receive additional cash prizes for each round, thereafter. The top four winners will receive any round-advance winnings plus an additional $8,000 for fourth place, $10,000 for third place, $15,000 for second place and $100,000 for the Grand Prize winner, plus the championship bracelet.
