Miss America Contestants Trade Heels for Combat Boots

Miss America hopefuls kicked off their heels and donned ROCKY combat boots last night at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

The 53 contestants took a break from pageant preparations to participate in the national awareness campaign, When They Come Back...We Give Back, a call to action for all Americans to support our military heroes who have faced the harsh realities of combat, returning home with a new set of challenges including post-traumatic stress and physical injuries.

Music stars Ted Nugent, Randy Houser, Chuck Wicks, Joe Nichols, Gretchen Wilson, Heidi Newfield, and Texas Governor Rick Perry, are among those already participating in the When They Come Back...We Give Back campaign. This year’s Miss America pageant, hosted by Mario Lopez, will be broadcast live on TLC from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, on Saturday, January 30.
