YMCA of Southern Nevada Offers "Coolest" Camp of the Year Dec. 21-31

The YMCA of Southern Nevada will hold holiday camp from December 21-31, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., to help youth stay active and ward off the boredom blues that can set in when school is closed. Boys and girls ages 5-12 can attend one or both weeks of camp – or even drop in on select days – at any of the three YMCA locations: the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, the Durango Hills Community Center YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive, and the Centennial Hills Community Center YMCA, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.
Campers will experience a celebration of winter fun, including arts and crafts projects, organized games, indoor swimming, sports, music and movement activities, and teambuilding exercises. As with all YMCA programs, camp activities will incorporate the YMCA’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
“Youth look forward to YMCA summer camp all year, so holiday camp is the perfect chance for them to experience all the fun of camp with a winter twist,” said Mike Lubbe, YMCA President and CEO. “We all tend to overindulge and get sluggish over the holidays, and camp will help kids overcome that by keeping them active and engaged in positive activities. It’s also a great child care option for parents who work.”
Fees for week one, December 21-23, range from $60 to $79; prices for week two, December 28-31, range from $80 to $105. Youth can also attend on a daily basis to accommodate family holiday activities and celebrations, and a daily rate will apply. Holiday camp is open to YMCA members and non-members. For more information or to register, call (702) 877-9622 or visit a YMCA branch.
