Winchester Players Focus on ‘Saving Christmas’
November 23, 2009 by VegasNews.com
Just in time for the holidays, the Winchester Players musical theater troupe has updated the classic “White Christmas” with a twist in their performance of “Saving Christmas” for two shows at 7 p.m. Dec. 22 and 23 at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. All tickets are $5.
In “Saving Christmas,” all adventures lead to Thunder Mountain as a cast of characters helps Arthur King save his magical Christmas mountaintop resort for children. The characters – including those from “I Love Lucy,” King Arthur, the Marx Brothers, Queen Guinevere and other energetic kids and adults – go through plot twists and turns to save the resort in time for the holidays.
The brother-and-sister team of Susan and Christopher Swanson direct the two shows. Susan Swanson brings Broadway experience to the troupe from shows such as “No, No Nannette,” “Pajama Game” and “Anything Goes” while Christopher Swanson has performed in “Jubilee!” at Bally’s on the Strip, among others.
The new 12-week session of Winchester Players begins Jan. 12. Winchester Players Musical Theater I meets from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Cost is $80. Winchester Players Musical Theater II meets from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. Cost is $90.
