Ne-Yo to Perform at The Pearl at The Palms Jan. 1

November 23, 2009 by

Grammy-award winner Ne-Yo is set to perform at The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Casino Resort on Friday, January 1, 2010.

In 2006, Ne-Yo hit the R&B scene with a style all his own – a mix of classic sounds with a modern twist. His debut album In My Own Words hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and solidified his role as an artist to watch. The Las Vegas native’s sophomore album, Because of You (2007), also peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 and brought Ne-Yo much acclaim when we won Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards.

With Ne-Yo’s third disc The Year of the Gentleman, the Las Vegas native and premier songwriter has constructed a suite of songs that shows exactly what he means by class. Written over the course of travels through Europe and his own fascination with the hometown boys known as the Rat Pack, Ne-Yo explains, “For me, the sharpness of Sammy and Sinatra is the kind of style I strive for in clothes and music. Year of the Gentleman is named in honor of those guys.”

Like the best artists, Ne-Yo’s music has an eternal sound that appeals to fans of all ages. Harking back to a late-sixties retro sound, the beautiful single “So You Can Cry” was one of the first songs Ne-Yo recorded for the project. Opening with an enchanting guitar resembling soft rain, “So You Can Cry” is a heartbreaking tune about a runaway girlfriend.

In 2007, Ne-Yo once again showed his true colors as a songwriter by penning lyrics for label-mates Rihanna (“Good Girl Gone Bad”) and Janet Jackson (“Rock With U”); in addition, Ne-Yo also wrote songs for Beyonce (“Flaws & All”). For more information, please visit www.yearofthegentleman.com.

This event is presented by Andrew Hewitt and Live Nation. The Pearl Box Office is open from noon – 7 p.m. daily. Doors will open at 8:00 p.m. and show time is 9:00 p.m. The Pearl is home to Miller Lite Live, sponsored by Citi; for more information on upcoming concerts, please call 702-942-6888.
