Supernatural Santana Returns to The Joint

Carlos Santana returns to The Joint for a new series of concert dates through February 21, 2010.
Carlos Santana and the Santana band returned to the Supernatural Santana residency shows at The Joint this week and it was nothing short of a triumphant return (Photo: © Erik Kabik/ RETNA/ www.erikkabik.com). The band takes takes this show to whole other level.
The curtains opened to reveal Carlos Santana bathed in a ray of blue light. The band jammed a classic Santana tune, then launched into a scorching version of Black Magic Woman. I won't do a set list play by play but there was an incredible version of the Zombies song She's Not There.
The sound system in The Joint is perfect for Santana; you hear every note and the dynamic range makes it feel like your wearing a set of headphones. The volume is enough to engross you and pull you in but not overtake you.
Carlos seems as vibrant and on point as he has ever been. His guitar solos all seemed to really stand out and transcend each piece of music. After all, that is his intention. To paraphrase, "We play the the music to help us all transcend and take ourselves to a place of harmony and peace".

Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits features career-spanning classics inspired by a mix of practical spirituality, a rebel-from-the-street vibe and passionate, virtuoso guitar playing. The set list includes a nostalgic collection of touchstone tracks reaching back as far as the first charting single “Jingo” (1969) and first Top 10 hit “Evil Ways” (1970), up through the latest hit, “Into The Night.”
Santana plays approximately 36 shows per year at The Joint, with a show time of 8pm.
