Artist Info: Mickey Thomas joined Jefferson Starship in 1979. Mickey’s voice had become legendary after recording “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” with the Elvin Bishop Band and he was planning to pursue a solo career. Jefferson Starship quickly proved to be the right decision as they recorded their first hit “Jane” almost immediately after getting together. In 1985, Starship released the album that would come to define the 1980s, Knee Deep in the Hoopla. Featuring two number-one hits – “We Built this City” and “Sara” – the album reached number seven on the Billboard charts and achieved platinum certification.

Starship followed up their initial success with another number one single, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” which was featured on the soundtrack for the hit movie “Mannequin.” As Starship continued to reach the top of the charts, MTV infiltrated pop culture and the band released videos for all of their hits that are still popular today. Starship music is featured in the soundtracks for “Rock of Ages,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Skeleton Twins” and most recently on the popular television series “Glee.”

Artist Info: Artist, musician and pioneering band leader Commander Cody helped invent a new style of music during the early 1970s, a period regarded as the height of rock innovation. Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen were one of the original groups to fuse divergent strains of American roots music – stripped-down basic rock and roll, rhythm and blues, jazz, bop, country, western swing and rockabilly – and create an innovative, yet familiar and convincing sound. Fronted by George Frayne (Commander Cody), the band released their debut album, Lost in the Ozone, in 1971. The album peaked at 82 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured a cover of the 1955 song “Hot Rod Lincoln,” which reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following several more success albums, Frayne set out on a solo career. Retaining the name Commander Cody, Frayne has continued to release music and tour the country.

His love of performing began early in life, with leading roles at The Boston Children’s Theatre. His first exposure to the national limelight came from his dead-on impression of a matronly grandmother. As a favor, he would call his friend, a DJ on WVBF-FM in Boston, and pretend to be his friend’s grandmother. As fate would have it, Jay Thomas, a regular on “Cheers” and “Murphy Brown,” heard Mark while in Boston and asked him to be a regular on his radio show in Hollywood. Following three years on the radio, O Toole moved to Las Vegas and soon appeared on “Star Search,” where his rendition of Conway Twitty’s “It’s Only Make Believe” beat out a five-time winner. A 20-year veteran in Las Vegas, O Toole released his album The Crooner in 2011.
