October 12, 2009 by

The College of Southern Nevada Foundation’s Annual Golf Classic will take place Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at the Dragon Ridge Country Club – located at 552 Stephanie St., near McDonald Ranch Dr. in Henderson.

Proceeds from the event will support students and programs at the college. This is the second year the College of Southern Nevada Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps to develop CSN programs by raising, managing and disbursing private funds has hosted the golf tournament.

CSN’s Henderson campus is one of the fastest growing in Southern Nevada with an enrollment increase of 8 percent last year and similar increases this semester.

“For Henderson to continue to employ quality, educated professionals in industries across the board, it’s important for businesses and business organizations such as the Henderson Chamber to support higher education,” said Alice Martz, CEO of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit organization that supports the city’s business economy and development.

Last year’s celebrity MLB players included Greg Maddux from the LA Dodgers, Aaron Rowan from the San Francisco Giants, James Shields from the Tampa Bay Rays, Mike Dunn from the New York Yankees, and Reed Johnson from the Chicago Cubs among other players. The 2009 line up will include these players along with Steve Garvey of LA Dodger fame and more major leaguers to be announced shortly.

Sponsorship opportunities as well as opportunities to participate in the tournament are available.

You can play golf with a professional baseball player by purchasing the Grand Slam Foursome package for the event which costs $5,000 and includes , a group photo, beverages, the lunch and awards banquet and the round of golf, cart and green fees. Also included is a meet-and-mingle with the professional players, a specialty merchandise and goody bag and a corporate recognition at the reception.

A Home Run Foursome package costs $1,500, and is similar to the Grand Slam Foursome, but does not include having a professional baseball player in the foursome, photos with the pro players or signed memorabilia.

Individual spots are also available for $500. Individual entry includes green fees, cart, practice balls, breakfast, a meet-and-mingle with the professional baseball players and a group photo. Individuals can also attend the lunch and awards banquet and receive the specialty merchandise and goody bag.

Sponsorship opportunities include: Home Plate ($25,000), Front Nine ($10,000), Back Nine ($10,000), 7th Inning Stretch ($7,500), Bull Pen: Beverage Cart Sponsor for two carts ($5,000), Scoreboard: Golf Cart Sponsorship ($3,000), Batting Cage – Golf Hole Sponsorship ($2,500) and Pennant: Apparel, Golf Balls, Tees and Towels ($2,500).

Each semester, CSN, which educates a professional and technology savvy work force, registers nearly 40,000 students. The College employs over 2,800 people while operating three main campuses and 11 academic centers and sites in four counties.
