“I created Wizard Wars, a show that Penn & Teller starred in,” said Lax, “and then I crossed over to their other show, “Fool Us,” and competed as a contestant. So, yeah, quite a difference going from creator/producer to common contestant.”

“I’ve never performed magic on TV before,” explained Lax. “I’ve always been behind-the-scenes, and this honestly was my first time stepping out into the spotlight. And DAMN it was hard…seriously, Teller just STARES down my hands as I’m doing every little move, and the live audience, and the cameras.”

Lax continued, “Before I moved to Vegas, I gave up on professional magic to pursue law. And I wrote a book about law school, and Penn gave me this blurb for the cover: ‘I’m really glad he’s getting the law degree so he has a job other than magic—we don’t need this kind of competition.’ So now, we’re in this crazy situation where I got to go ‘against’ Penn & Teller and see whether his ‘prophecy’ proved true.”
